DE BRUYNE | Id rather win the Premier League than the Champions League! | A chat with Kevin!
Kevin De Bruyne believes some players are hindered by the fear of making a mistake, but says he has no interest in playing safe in order to boost his statistics.
The Belgian has proven himself to be the Premier League’s leading playmaker during his six-and-a-half years at Manchester City, but insists he has no interest in the pass completion rate by which midfielders can be measured. De Bruyne thinks it is vital footballers ignore external criticism and trust their instincts if they are to showcase their talent.
“Don’t be afraid to make a mistake,” he said. “Sometimes, people will be scared to make a pass knowing the reaction outside. If people react to a bad pass, whatever. Try to get the ball back again, try to do the same action or try something else. It doesn’t matter. I don’t care about pass completion. That’s not what I am here for. I am here to do what I am good at.”
Our No.17 also discussed the trophy he wants to win the most and why he feels so happy playing his football at City. Watch the video above to hear more.
And here is what he said about PL over UCL:
“For me it is always the league and then the Champions League, in that order, because the league gives you the consistency you need as a player to do it all the time. The Champions League, sometimes it feels like you need to go through periods where you have very good form and if you are good on the day it is important. But then obviously in a way I want the Champions League a little bit more because I’ve not won it yet. In the end, either/or, or both. It’s good!”
