It’s tough deciding what to discuss on a football show these days because we live in a time when the only thing we can count on is football’s capacity to spring a surprise. Whether these surprises come – on one hand – in the welcome shape of new stars like Dominic Calvert-Lewin helping their club make a refreshingly bright start to the season, or an unexpectedly vibrant transfer market even in this depressed economy, or – on the other hand – nasty surprises for managers who lose the services of star players to injury or a positive Covid test, we’re learning to expect the unexpected.
