Tottenham and Everton keen on signing Crystal Palace Wilfried Zaha
Tottenham Hotspur and Everton have reportedly locked horns in the battle to sign Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha this summer.
Crystal Palace, on the other hand, is not willing to sell their superstar as they want to fight hard to keep the player due to changes that arrive following Roy Hodgson’s departure from Selhurst Park.
Hodgson replaced Frank De Boer as Crystal Palace manager back in 2017 and he took charge of his final match as their manager on Sunday, when his team was defeated by Liverpool 2-0 at Anfield, and it also seemed to be farewell to several players in his team as 15 players will be out of contract in June.
The report has it that both Everton and Tottenham are keen on bringing in the Ivory Coast international, and they are most likely to table an offer this summer with bonuskod-bet.com willing to help fans bank on this potential transfer in summer.
Everton was reported to have been heavily involved with the Ivorian forward back in 2019 when they tabled two official offers for the Palace forward. Reports have it that Everton’s second bid worth £70 million-plus Cenk Tosun and James McCarthy, but it was still rejected by Crystal Palace. This led to the Toffees signing Alex Iwobi from Arsenal at the time.
Fast forward two years later, Everton remains heavily linked with the forward and they are quite confident a deal will be done at a significantly low price than the previous price tag.
The Ivorian forward still has two years remaining on his contract with the Eagles and will likely not be extending his contract. He could even be available on the market for as little as £40 million, which is a huge price, drop.
Tottenham, who are currently scouting for a new manager to sign, are also keeping a close eye on the Zaha situation, they might just get the capital to make a move but that’s if Harry Kane part ways with the North London club this summer.
Arsenal was also rumoured to be interested in the Ivorian in the past, but they are unlikely to make a move now with Nicolas Pepe, Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith-Rowe all stepping up for the club. Plus, the Gunners have another player in mind, and that is Norwich City’s, Emiliano Buendia.
Crystal Palace has quite a lot to do this summer following the departure of Hodgson. Eddie Howe, Steve Cooper and Frank Lampard have all been linked as possible replacements. And whoever is signed will need to rearrange the team as several senior players are likely to leave the club on a free transfer this summer.
Mamadou Sakho, Christian Benteke, Patrick van Aanholt, Andros Townsend, James McCarthy, Martin Kelly, Scott Dann, Gary Cahill, Nathaniel Clyne and Wayne Hennessey will all be out of contracts in the summer.
Speaking to the media, Zaha welcomes a new challenge and believe he has the talents to compete at the big clubs in Premier League. He said: “I feel like I can have another shot at the top teams, because my dream is to win things.
“I’m good enough to go out there and compete with the best.
“If the opportunity came, I wouldn’t turn it down, because I feel like I deserve it. It’s so I can show my kids: ’This is what daddy won’.”
